Diagnostic and Therapeutic Services: We are equipped to provide diagnostic and therapeutic services for your pet's complete health care needs. Before age 7, yearly examinations are recommended to detect medical problems or confirm that no problems exist. After age 7, we recommend senior health examinations twice yearly, as animals age much faster than people. Senior pets may need changes in their diet, supplements, or medications, and we want to detect any changes as soon as possible to help maintain a longer, healthy life.
Surgical Services: Our surgical suite provides for the performance of a wide variety of surgical procedures. We utilize the safest available anesthetics with non-stop monitoring to provide that extra margin of safety, especially for our older or high-risk patients.
Dentistry: Dental health is as important for pets as it is for people. Dental disease causes bad breath, pain, and infection in the mouth which can lead to weight loss and infection in other parts of the body. For optimal safety, all dental procedures are performed with constant patient supervision and intravenous fluid support. Our dental services include teeth cleaning and polishing, dental X-rays, teeth extractions, root canals, and oral surgery.
Physical Rehabilitation: Dr. Michelle Bishop became a certified Canine Rehabilitation Practitioner in 2006. She is available for consultations and is prepared to develop customized rehabilitation programs. Our services include massage, stretching and range-of-motion exercises, and owners are taught techniques and exercises for use at home to improve patient response. We also offer hydrotherapy which utilizes our underwater treadmill.
Radiology Services: Our on-site, fully computerized digital X-ray equipment provides high quality radiographs to help our veterinarians evaluate muscular-skeletal, cardiovascular, pulmonary, gastrointestinal, reproductive, and urinary systems. If x-rays need to be referred somewhere, we can e-mail or put them on a CD for easy transport.
Ultrasound Services: Ultrasound is a painless, risk-free, non-invasive technology that uses sound waves to examine internal organs. It helps diagnose kidney, bladder and gallbladder stones, masses, tumors, and other changes in a variety of organs, as well as detection of pregnancy. This is an invaluable tool for the modern veterinary practice, as it enables diagnoses that previously required surgery.
Acupuncture: Acupuncture is an aspect of traditional Chinese medicine that has been in use for centuries. It restores health through stimulation of pressure points on the body with hair-thin needles. Acupuncture can be used to treat many health problems, including relieving all kinds of chronic pain, respiratory problems, nervous system disorders, and other illnesses. Dr. Shuko Yamada received certification in acupuncture in 2003.
Reiki: Marci Zied, one of our receptionists, is a certified reiki practitioner. A gentle, hands-on healing technique, reiki energy therapy promotes deep relaxation and revitalizes the whole being. This Japanese treatment clears and heals energy pathways and restores harmony and balance to the body, mind, and spirit. Reiki complements conventional and alternative therapies, and is used for emotional healing following trauma, abuse, or neglect, and helps with fear and trust issues, as well as depression, anxiety, stress, chronic pain, and illness.
Electrocardiography Services: We provide ECG services on-site as well as examinations and echocardiograms with cardiology consultants.
Laboratory: Our in-house laboratory provides for serum chemistry, hematology, serology, urinalysis and parasite testing. We also utilize commercial veterinary laboratories for specialized diagnostic testing and consultations.
Pharmacy: We maintain a complete inventory of pharmaceuticals, vitamins, and flea & heartworm preventatives.
Dietary Counseling: Our veterinarians will provide guidance regarding your pet's nutritional needs for each life stage, including dietary requirements for growth, weight maintenance and performance.
Behavioral Counseling and Obedience Training: We can provide advice regarding the correction of problems such as excessive barking, chewing, spraying, scratching, digging, house soiling and aggression. We also offer puppy kindergarten and beginner obedience classes, given by one of our nurses, Blakey Hastings.
Microchipping: Microchips have helped reunite thousands of pets with their families. We offer HomeAgain microchipping to increase the chances of a safe recovery.
Boarding: We provide separate cat and dog kennels as a service to our clients. All boarders receive personal attention from our caring staff.
